Demand From Q1 DTV Stations Prompts Triveni Digital to Extend Free StreamDoctor Analysis Service
Princeton, NJ, January 10, 2001

Triveni Digital announces that due to the requests of ATSC digital television stations signing on during the first quarter of 2001, that they are extending the duration of the period for their free StreamDoctor service. StreamDoctor, which analyzes and reports problems with a station's DTV transport stream, is now available through April 30, 2001 at no charge to DTV stations.

Many DTV transport streams do not comply with ATSC standards due to equipment problems or configuration errors. These problems and/or errors account for a majority of the tuning problems associated with DTV receivers. Triveni Digital's StreamDoctor service was developed to help DTV stations comply with the ATSC DTV standards, therefore ensuring correct operation of DTV receivers, leading to satisfied DTV viewers.

"Our mission continues to serve the broadcast industry in its transition to digital over-the-air television", said Mark Simpson, President of Triveni Digital. "There are many challenges and issues, such as embedding complex data structures in transport streams. Our experts are ready to analyze DTV stations' transport streams for compliance with ATSC standards."

Triveni Digital's experts will analyze transport streams using StreamScope (TM) MT-20 stream monitor/analyzer. The StreamDoctor analysis focuses primarily on ATSC Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) standard, audio and video buffer usage, and Program Clock Reference (PCR) frequency and jitter. PSIP problems can interfere with DTV receivers tuning to the correct channels, proper primary language and how channel information is displayed in electronic program guides. Buffer underflow or overflow can cause audio or video to break up or be presented with incorrect synchronization. PCR problems can cause synchronization problems with audio and/or video. In extreme cases PCR problems may result in glitches in the audio and/or video due to lost data.

All results are reported directly to the DTV station and are kept confidential and will not be disclosed to any third party without the express permission of the station.

Whether your DTV station is already operational, conducting trials or in the process of building your DTV broadcasting facility Triveni Digital is ready to assist your DTV station in complying with the ATSC standards. For your DTV station's free StreamDoctor analysis send an e-mail to StreamDoctor@TriveniDigital.com dated no later than April 30, 2001.
