Triveni Digital CTO to Join Industry Leaders on IPTV Panel During NXTcomm 2008 ATIS TechThink Session
Dr. Richard Chernock and Other Panelists Will Address How IPTV QoS and QoE Serve as Differentiators in Highly Competitive Marketplace

Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics Inc., today announced that company CTO Dr. Richard Chernock will join other industry leaders as a panelist at the NXTcomm08 ATIS TechThink session entitled “IPTV QoS and QoE — Service Differentiators in the Battleground of Competition.” Scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. in room S221 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the panel discussion will address how IPTV services can be managed to ensure a superior entertainment experience, and to create a compelling business environment for content providers and advertisers.
“While QoE-type measurements that look for degradation in perceived video and/or audio are quite valuable in determining when issues have arisen, they don't really lead the IPTV operator to an understanding of what to fix,” said Chernock. “Comprehensive monitoring in the appropriate places and comparison against pertinent standards are essential in revealing the cause of those problems. Combined with the prioritization of error severities, these monitoring and analytical capabilities are critical to delivery of a quality product. I look forward to providing insight into effective deployment of solutions that offer this key functionality to IPTV service providers.”
Triveni Digital closely tracks the work being undertaken by ATIS task forces in developing IPTV standards, and Chernock will provide expertise in the use of standards from related industries for implementing practical approaches to QoSM (quality of service metrics) standards.
